Stop the silence, protect our children!
Child protection is about creating awareness of what is child abuse, and to ensure that parents, practitioners and children know how we can keep children safe from harm and exploitation.
As part of our child protection initiative, we ran a STOP campaign. Creative activities, drama plays and parenting sessions was held over 2 week, so create a STOP attitude towards bulling, illegal behaviour, sexual exploitation, physical and emotional abuse towards all children.
Safety is one of our theme discussions for May, and it fitted in perfectly with the ongoing theme of keeping children safe. During free play our children also dressed up as different career people who keeps us safe and what each job occupation means. They also learned how to cross the road safely, important emergency numbers and what chemicals are not safe to have at reach of a child.
The Children of the Children’s Ministry and Avodah members celebrates Jesus in Heaven…
As part of our Hope4Kids program by Salt and Light Ministries, we have a theme about Heaven. Heaven is a free gift – it is not something that can be earned or worked for. It is a grace from God, which means that everyone who believes in His Son Jesus can enter Heaven. We have put together gift boxes with mirrors to give to moms for Mother’s Day, as a reminder that God wants each of us in Heaven – we just need to accept this gift. That is GOOD NEWS!

Grade RR Explores their Senses and Celebrates Family Day…
Safety is one of our theme discussions for May, and it fitted in perfectly with the ongoing theme of keeping children safe. During free play our children also dressed up as different career people who keeps us safe and what each job occupation means. They also learned how to cross the road safely, important emergency numbers and what chemicals are not safe to have at reach of a child.
We all experience the world differently, and our senses are so important to help us explore. Children had fun with tasting new food, smelling strong or pleasant smells, and feeling different surfaces for textures in the theme senses.
Family day! For the family day theme, we held a full packed family day sport event. Parent was teamed up in the class groups. The parents created names, and themes, they painted their own and their children’s faces to build some good tam spirit. The Blue team walked a way as the winners of the day with 19 points! It was a tough challenge with wheelbarrow walk, beanbag races and musical chairs to name a few. A big shoutout to the ECD team and Tanya Lewis our vice principal for all her creative input.
Empowering Hearts and Bodies…
Avodah’s Young Men’s Group Thrives with CrossFit and Gospel Outreach on Friday mornings.
We have started a young men’s group at Avodah where four of our high-functioning intellectually disabled boys train with a CrossFit trainer, Petrie Robbertse. Petrie is part of Catalyst, a youth ministry in the Paarl area, which works with young people and spreads the gospel. By engaging in physical exercise, he builds relationships with the boys to reach their hearts, share the gospel, and help them develop a lasting relationship with Jesus Christ. The boys thoroughly enjoy the physical training sessions. We have already received donations of rugby and netballs, cones, and water bottles to enhance their training experience.
CHILDREN OF THE KINGDOM…
We had the privilege of being part of the “Children of the Kingdom” day held at Salem, near Paarl.
Our children and the Avodah group had the opportunity to attend this day where they were equipped to stand as children in God’s Kingdom.
Through prayer, singing, communion, and the Word of God, they were ministered to and their identity in Jesus was strengthened.
Thank you to Poppie and Deon Hauptfleisch from Bridallove Ministries for this special day.
Joel 2: 28 “Then, after doing all those things, I will pour out my Spirit upon all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Your old men will dream dreams, and your young men will see visions.
