Stories make you smart!
We at Moms-for-Wellington believe that feeding our children’s brains is of utmost importance. Good stories are magical and assists the kids in developing their creativity. It is so uplifting when the community steps in and assists in this way.
Today schools, companies, private donators as well as the Mayor from Drakenstein stood together to help our kids create a better future.
Dr. Thys Smith director for the Kinderland Trust and the Marketer for Gerrie Smith’s new children’s book “Stories vir Pikkies en Peuters” took the initiative and give each of the kids at Moms-for-Wellington a sample of this new book. Honored Guests, Mr. Conrad Poole, Mayor of Drakenstein, Mrs. Liaquet Ahmed from Wellington Paint & Hardware and Michelle Cooper from Tafelberg Publishers were present when these beautiful books were handed to the kids.
Ilse Human, Principal of the “Kinderland Skool & Akedemie” read one of the stories from the book to the kids, and afterwards the kids were entertained by Kinderland’s very own hilarious Clowns Hansie & Worsie, and they explained to the kids that it is very important to respect all books.
Whether books are read to the kids or they just sit and page through a big picture book, story time in the Moms-for-Wellington program is a highlight in the kids’ day.
Whilst reading our kids are taught values and how it will feel to walk in someone else’s shoes. Reading assists the kids in developing a better memory and vocabulary, it helps them to think critically and logically, and improve their concept skills.
We want to thank the Wellington community for enriching these kids lives in this remarkable manner. Our wish is that every child will hear a story every day.
