A story of a small woman with Great strength.
Life has left deep scars on her little face and sometimes the tears flow, but through it all she constantly testifies to God’s goodness and continues to serve.
She walked into my life 6 years ago and left an eternal mark……
Aunty Rykie is a petite woman of 62 who fits under my arm, but she has a heart that lets everyone in.
I met Aunty Rykie when she had been volunteering with the children at Ma’s for Wellington for 2 years.
She started helping where we made delicious meals for our children.
During this time, she however lost two daughters to death and yet she continued to give of herself….
When one of her friends (also a Tannie Mamma) was diagnosed with cancer, nothing was too much to support her until the end.
She also now looks after one of our Tannie Mammas full-time who also fell ill. Again, she went a little further and took her into her 2-bedroom wooden shack to take care of her.
I am in awe of how she can give of herself so selflessly….
With both her daughters deceased, she looks after her 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Life has left deep scars on her little face and sometimes the tears flow, but through it all she constantly testifies to God’s goodness and continues to serve.
Pure and lasting religion in the sight of God our Father means that we must care for the orphans and widows in their troubles…..
She keeps on serving….. She leaves many teardrops in life but the impact of her heart will be felt for generations to come…..
