CHILDREN’S MINISTRY

Safeguarding and protecting our children…

We’re thrilled to share the highlights of our recent Health Boost Day at the Children’s Ministry. Thanks to the incredible support of NORSA Community Care healthcare practitioners, our little ones received essential health interventions to thrive. From vital vitamin A supplementation to deworming tablets, we’re ensuring our children are healthy and strong. This event perfectly aligns with our organisation’s mission principle of safeguarding and protecting our children. It’s moments like these that remind us of the power of community and the importance of prioritising the well-being of our youngest members.

During ministry time we presented the Roadmap to Jesus. This means that we taught them the 6 main steps of the roadmap to Jesus.  God saves us from sin when we trust only in Jesus for our eternal life. When you share the gospel message with someone, knowledge of the gospel path helps you to stay on course. It’s like a train track. The train stays on the tracks. Because we follow a track, we can stay on course.

With our autumn theme, our children made their own autumn tree, which they really loved. They then coloured their own leaves and painted the tree with brown paint using sponges.

EARLY CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT/PRE SCHOOL/GRADE RR

Learning through story telling…

At our Pre School, it is important to us for children to learn more of the world through book reading, learn-though-play activities, and group work. Six of our caregivers and parents recently completed a short course at Inceba Trust: Book-sharing.

During this course, our parents were empowered to read to their children, understanding that this activity transcends mere story time. It’s about fostering essential skills in bonding with their children, teaching children how to concentrate, how to be creativity and have an active imagination.

Moreover, it serves as a beautiful opportunity for parents to bond with their kids, sharing stories, experiences, and preparing them for the exciting journey of school ahead.

Their dedication throughout the month-long sessions is truly commendable, as they not only learned but also shared and uplifted each other.

We are grateful to Inceba Trust’s partnership in this inspiring initiative, promoting quality family time and education.

AVODAH

The power of team sports

At our organisation we believe in the power of team sports and physical activity for our physically and intellectually disabled members. One of our favourite activities is Bocce, a Paralympic sport similar to bowls, which tests muscle control and accuracy. We have a weekly competition between groups in our program, playing for a coveted trophy at the end of each term. What makes Bocce special is its inclusive format, allowing individuals of all ages and abilities to participate together. Everyone gets involved, including our staff and volunteers, creating a vibrant atmosphere filled with laughter and camaraderie. The Avodadas-team members emerged victorious in our quarterly competition, showcasing their excitement, competitive spirit, and sheer enjoyment of every moment. Through Bocce and other activities, we provide opportunities for social interaction, physical development, and the building of self-confidence among our special needs community.

WOMEN’S MINISTRY

Build your life on the rock of my Word….

“Therefore, everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.” Matthew 7:24

At our quarterly WOW-day (Women of Worth), our staff and volunteers focused on the Word of God, which instructs us to build our lives and our organisation on Jesus’s words. Not just to hear it, but to do it! Then we will stand firm; in a world full of storms, it is crucial to have a strong foundation.

We prayed for wisdom and understanding in every area of Ma’s vir Wellington: our vision, mission, our programs, staff, and every need. We will not lean on our own understanding but trust the Lord for His instructions in all we do. “Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labour in vain.” Psalm 127:1

COMMUNITY OUTREACH

Community engagement in driving positive change…

In our latest initiative, every Monday, three dedicated volunteers extend a helping hand to the parents of our children through a special program called “Hope for Parents”. Their mission revolves around sharing the gospel of Jesus with these parents, aiming to foster spiritual growth and community upliftment. Recently, they organised a special session featuring guest speaker Riana Conradie from the Dameskring, an Afrikaans Christen Women’ organisation, who presented a short course using the “Waardes vir Woelwaters” book, focusing on how parents can impart essential values to their children. At the heart of this attempt lies the belief that by imparting Jesus’s wisdom to parents, we can gradually empower communities with the truth of the Word. It’s moments like these that underscore the profound impact of faith and community engagement in driving positive change.

YWAM VISITORS:

Spreading the gospel to all nations

A YWAM missionary group from Hawaii reached out to our children. They treated our children with a lively stage performance about where Jesus had a conversation with His disciples and adults. But when Jesus invited the children, the adults turned away. He then said, ‘Let the little children come to Me; the kingdom belongs to them.’ After the performance our visitors enjoyed playing, laughing, and having fun with the children. It is important for us to build kingdom with other mindlike organisations to spread the gospel of Jesus to all nations.
