Newsletter December 2025

Dear funders, Partners, and friends,

As we look back on this year, our hearts overflow with gratitude for the journey God has taken us on. It has been a year marked by growth, unity, and undeniable blessing. At every turn, His faithfulness has carried us, and every milestone has strengthened our commitment to the children and families we serve.

Every year, we seek the Lord for a guiding word or theme—something that shapes our focus and helps us work intentionally toward what He has planned for us.

In 2024, He led us to examine our foundations, grounding ourselves in what we believe, why we exist, and the mission He entrusted to us.

In 2025, we were able to build upon that foundation by turning our attention to our values, clarifying who we are as an organisation and what we stand for. Through this process, we worked diligently on how we operate, ensuring that our actions reflect our values and that we walk in unity as a team.

As a team, we reaffirmed what defines us:

  • Christ-Centred: We seek to apply biblical values in all we do.
  • Love & Respect: We treat every individual with compassion and dignity.
  • Unity: We work together with all people.
  • Excellence: We commit to quality, accountability, and best practices.

This intentional focus set the foundation for a year filled with growth—internally, relationally, and spiritually.

This year sparked a deep season of soul-searching among our staff—individually and collectively. What emerged was remarkable unity. Despite significant transitions, including changes in our Board and management structure, the team came together with one heart and purpose.

We also journeyed together through a seven-part course on forgiveness, reflecting on the sacrifice of Christ and the power of His grace. Many confronted personal challenges, extended forgiveness, and experienced breakthrough. We witnessed miracles, healing, and spiritual renewal. Truly, God was at work among us.

Even in moments of uncertainty, God provided—sometimes in ways nothing short of supernatural. When funding was unclear, His provision carried us. We stand today because He built this house; without Him, our efforts would be in vain.

This year also brought moments of deep sorrow and incredible purpose. The tragic fire that destroyed more than 200 homes and left over 600 people displaced shook our community. Yet, through collaboration with the Drakenstein Municipality, Mosaic Community Development Centre, and NORSA, we were able to support the rebuilding process in under three months.

Out of this great loss, a beautiful new partnership was born with Nanna D’s Projects, giving us the privilege to support and endorse her soup kitchen and its vital work.

We were blessed with a rich and meaningful programme this year, filled with moments that strengthened our faith, united our community, and expanded our impact.

At the end of the first term, we held a powerful collective Passover play where our staff, children, Avodah members, and parents joined hands to depict the Via Dolorosa.

The journey began with roads lined in cloth and palm leaves, guiding everyone toward the cross, and ending at the empty tomb—the ultimate symbol of Christ’s victory. It was a deeply moving experience that brought our entire community together around the story of Jesus’ sacrifice and resurrection.

The Avodah team hosted their annual Daisy Day under the inspiring theme “Let Hope Bloom!”. Their mission for the day was simple yet powerful: to step out into the streets of Wellington and spread hope.

Through songs, prayer, and words of encouragement, they ministered to residents and reminded them of God’s love and presence. It was a day filled with joy, courage, and heartfelt encounters.

We were honoured once again to participate in the Basson Workwear Charity Golf Day

This event offered a wonderful opportunity to share with golfers the real impact they are having in the lives of our families—helping them gain stability, build resilience, and move “out of the rough and onto the greens” of life. Their generosity continues to empower our mission and uplift our community.

This year, in a spirit of unity, Ma’s vir Wellington made a special decision: to bring all four of our programs together—Children’s Ministry, ECD, Avodah, and our Volunteers—for one united Christmas celebration to present the story of Jesus:

• how He came from heaven to earth as a baby,
• how He lived among us as a man,
• and how He gave His life on the cross so that we may one day live with Him in His Kingdom.

It was a joy-filled event made even more meaningful as we returned to Colibri Hall, the very place where our journey began 19 years ago. To stand together in that same hall—children, staff, volunteers, and families—worshipping and celebrating the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, was deeply moving.

The celebration also reminded us that Jesus did not remain a baby in a manger. He grew, He lived a perfect life, and He became the ultimate sacrifice for our sins, for us to join Him one day in His Kingdom, of light.  This truth resonated beautifully throughout the program.

This year, our children continued to flourish. We saw little ones who were once shy or unable to speak stand proudly as they received their graduation certificates. As five of our Avodah members completed their time with us, five new members were welcomed into a space where they can belong, grow, and thrive.

Through your generosity, we were able to bless 50 children with school shoes, bags, and essential items to help them begin their school careers with dignity and hope.

As we close this year, we extend our deepest gratitude:

  • To God, our source, strength, and sustainer.
  • To our Board, for their leadership and wisdom.
  • To our dedicated staff, who serve with compassion and excellence.
  • To our 40 volunteers, whose time, love, and sacrifice strengthen our mission.
  • And to you—our funders, sponsors, and partners—whose generosity makes every impact possible.

Your partnership has carried us through another year of meaningful, life-changing work. Because of your faithfulness, 50 children are stepping into their future with hope, 60 3–4-year-old children could start their foundation strong, and 20 Avodah members, had a place where they can belong, experience God’s love.

Thank you for your obedience, generosity, and belief in the mission of Ma’s vir Wellington. May the Lord’s favour rest upon you as we enter a new year filled with expectation and purpose.
