A TRIBUTE TO OUR WINTER PROJECT

Every year, when the blanket of snow falls on Sneeukop and excessive rains drench the Boland, we worry about how Ma’s-for-Wellington’s children will survive the cold. We launched our winter project with hope and confidence, and thanks to our community’s caring hearts and open hands, we have never been disappointed.

This initiative provides immediate relief from the harsh winter conditions and offers long-term benefits that support the children’s development and well-being.

BEHIND THE SCENES

Behind the scenes, our team is working tirelessly to make this dream come true. From planning and shopping for clothing for 120 children to sorting and packing special parcels for each child, we are dedicated to ensuring every detail is perfect.

HANDING OUT PARCELS…

Then, the most joyous and blessed day finally arrives when these parcels are handed out to the children. The impact of the project is profound and multifaceted

One of the most tangible impacts of the winter project is the immediate relief it brings to the children. By supplying warm clothing, the project ensures these young ones are protected from the severe cold, crucial in preventing winter-related illnesses and keeping the children healthy and active.

The project also provides a sense of warmth and care during the cold season. For children facing poverty, this emotional support is vital. Feeling safe, valued, and connected positively influences their overall well-being.

Knowing they are cared for and supported by their community fosters a sense of security and belonging in the children, reinforcing their connection to their community and beyond.

STRENGTHENING COMMUNITY BONDS

The KNUS KOMBERSIE VIR ‘N KLEUTER PROJECT, the brainchild of Hestie van Wyk and Liza Joubert, has done more than just help children—it has woven our community closer together. Sponsors, donors, volunteers, and families united with a common goal: to support our youngest and most vulnerable members. This spirit of collaboration has created a profound sense of solidarity and shared purpose, proving that we can achieve great things when we come together.

Through this project, we’ve built a resilient community, always ready to support one another in times of need. By knitting or crocheting a blanket, our children are wrapped in love and vibrant colours. This initiative is also part of Mandela Day, embodying its spirit of service and unity. Together, they have crafted 155 blankets, each one stitched with love and care.

A WARM THANKS TO ALL OUR DONORS

We are deeply grateful to every sponsor and donor who brought our winter project for preschool children in need to life. Your steadfast support has been a lifeline for these little ones, bringing warmth to their days and brightening their futures. Together, we’ve woven a tapestry of hope that transcends the cold season. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being the driving force behind this transformative initiative, whether through financial contributions, handmade items, store-bought gifts, or prayers.

MADIBA DAY – WHAT IS IN YOUR HAND?

We invite our community, schools, families, and businesses to pack either an activity pack for a 3-6-year-old child or nonperishable food parcels for our families in need. We would love to distribute activity packs to our 3–6-year-old children, as they often lack stimulation at home. These packs will provide opportunities for creativity and mental engagement, crucial for their brain development.
